OK so i just read some things on CNN.com
first my heart goes out to all of the firefighters in the world, especially the people in and around Charleston, SC who were greatly effected by the recent events. every time a firefighter dies I think of Mike. it scares the shit out of me. I'm thinking of calling him today.
Second is the article about sand being more deadly than sharks. the 'doctors' claim that holes being dug in the sand are more dangerous than the sharks in the water. or at least the writers do. stupid people. |

The facts: 1) Imus was talking about the women's basketball finals. Tennessee girls were cute where as the Rutgers girls looked rough and mean. Imus classed the Rutgers girls 'nappy-headed hoes".
2) black people in general ( i'm sure not every single black person got pissed) got mad. Al Sharpton wanted a 'war'
3) Don Imus was fired from pretty much everything.
4) Micheal what's his face from seinfeld said "the N-word" and people got slightly upset. (nothing compared to this in my opinion)
the no facts:
I've watched the video (hopefully undoctored) of the Don Imus and someone else talking and Imus saying nappy headed hoes. The worst part of this phrase is the hoes part. nappy headed just saying they kinda look unkept and rough and mean like. IMUS WAS NOT THE FIRST TO SAY THEY WERE HOES. he was augmenting the other guy's comment. should he have been taken off the air... maybe. should he have been fired... no. Imus apologized to many people INCLUDING THE RUTGER'S GIRLS and he tried to make amends with the people he insulted.
CNN.com has a article that says Al Sharpton says it was a battle won over the abuse of blacks on air waves. GET A CLUE GUY!!!! this is not a won battle. A man was fired because he said hoes essentially. Yes i know that nappy is in reference to black people's hair. half of the team is white, the other black.... from what i found i could be wrong (i didn't watch the game. i don't care about basketball.) so was nappy headed a racially heated word... obviously it is. is it what was meant... I submit that it was not. nappy may have been derogatory in 1950 or 60 but it is now 2007. in 2007 when i think nappy i think unkept... rough like... not neatly made. I do not think black people have shitty looking hair. and always look unkept.
my point: Al Sharpton is forcing me to take words out of my vocabulary because they were derogatory back when he was growing up. times have changed, and so has the meaning of some words. The 'N-word" still refers to black people in a negative way as does Tar-baby (not to many people know about that one) and porch monkey. nappy refers to something being "fuzzy, or kinky" and back in the 50's it referred to black people's hair in a negative way. but have we really grown since then.... obviously not. I hope that the younger generation (my generation) will see how stupid this is.
I hope racism is wiped out and we can go on with our lives and be able say things about other races and not be bashed down because something we said was insulting. sometimes it is a descriptor. sometimes it's the first thing that comes to our minds. sometimes it's all we know because that's how our parents taught us and we are ignorant to the true meaning. Being ignorant (which Imus probably wasn't ) is not an excuse for the behavior BUT AN OPPORTUNITY FOR THE OFFENDED TO TEACH THE TRUE

In the RED corner wearing red trunks weighing in at 155 with multiple wins in the division. the one. the Only. the king of the ring. the Scarlet from Charlotte. DAN SEYMOUR!!!!!
And in the BLACK wearing very very very very black trunks weighing in at a combined weight of 2 tons. from the depths of hell. Prince of darkness, king of the underworld. DEAN and his team of professors!!!!!
the fight will consist of four rounds or 'exams'. each 'exam' will be no more than 3.5 hours long. The first round will be this Friday afternoon at 1255 with professor Frommer leading the charge. He will present Dan with a Probability and statistics exam. Saturday will be 'exam' two with Dr. Z presenting the Environmental engineering round. Sunday is a day of rest for all competitors. Monday and wednesday are where it gets sticky. Monday Dr. Mazurek presents structural analysis and tuesday is a day off for Dan while the dean a professors continue to fight other battles on campus. wednesday is the last day of the fight. Dr Timpe is the deans last stand between Dan and Christmas break. will Timpe be able to hold dan in New London (no)
This week the battle between good and evil, Rosey red and Pitch black. Only on Pay-per-view. ok really i'll update on here.
Thats just a long way of saying i have exams next week, and i'm wasting time doing this instead of studying. |

I ended what must have been ended many weeks ago.

be prepared for the Dean vs. Dan coming up on the 15 dec. (exams) this winter there will be 4 rounds. points will be awarded to me if i pass to the dean if i fail. if there is a 2-2 tie in the end... there will be a recall of votes. |

back here at the academy. leave for break on the 20th of December. don't care about anything between now and then. I want to go back home. sit around and do nothing all day. nothing. sit on my ass and not worry about a thing.
And then go see some friends and get out in NC. mainly i just don't want to be here. fuck new england, and their sports teams.
Thanksgiving was good. over the 5 nights i was home i slept in 4 different places. had some fun with family. did some fishing, even though i caught nothing, and did not go shooting like i had planned. oh fuck me.
i haven't shot a gun i so long and the one chance i get i blow it. grrrrrreat.
on another note... girls confuse me. |

Ok so i read the MSNBC and the CNN stories about the game consoles. Wii (I say Why because I can) and PS3 are coming out this weekend. PS3 came out today. It's the most expensive with the most features including blue-ray (hopefully for sony's sake it catches on.) Wii is the cheapest and is primarily for gamers. It's the only one that can't play DVDs or blue ray or HD-DVDs whatever it has the coolest controller. BUt to the point I want to make.
People are buying the PS3 today. after standing in line for days.... (thats what i call die hard fans) they turn around and sell them on EBay. i just looked at 9:30 friday morning and there is a Buy-it-now or best offer for a PS3 for $10,000. ... My... Mouth... DROPPED. the highest BID that i saw for a preordered PS3 was about half that. Oh. My. GOD! crazy people. wait a year or two get the console for $200. Honestly. Plus wait untill the user reviews come out and find out which one is the best and buy it.
Here is my plan: I would like to own one in the future. not right now. they are too expensive I don't want to spend money like that when i don't even have that much time between school to use it. so when i graduate i would like to own one. by then they will be in the process of making new consoles for the idiots to buy brand new for $1500 but I'm not that crazy. (unless i buy and resell for a profit.) I am choosing between Sony (PS3) or Microsoft (XBOX360) because then I won't have to buy a DVD player also. So which one has my vote... right now probably PS3 just because i already own a PS2 and it has reverse capability. but if blue ray doesn't make it then HD DVD XBOX360 here i come. and after a couple years. damn i will practically steal it from the people that are buying them today for well over what a console should go for.
Besides that THANKSGIVING here i come. Back in the Good ol' NC for a little under a week to see parents Siblings, future brother-in-law and assorted pets. Shoot some shotgun with me padre and make some dinner with me madre and do some crazy shit with my brother and sister.
but first. 2 projects should get done. some homework due monday. CASINO ROYALE ( I heard the blond is pretty good. ) and some packing for the trip. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
